Extension to road closure at Coxhill Road

Please see this update from developers W W Martin regarding the work at Coxhill Rd and subsequent road closures

Good morning all

WW Martin are writing to you to update you on the works to Coxhill road. We have made good progress and to date were on target to finish a couple of days earlier than programmed. We have now moved onto the second phase of the works and whilst cutting the road we have discovered that the road surface is inadequate and does not allow us to reinstate the required covering that is needed to satisfy KCC Highways. On discovery of this we requested a site visit by KCC Highways to seek advise on what should be undertaken to meet their standard. WW Martin are now being forced to upgrade the road at our cost on the section directly outside of site which is referenced to as the section 278 works. This means we have now got to excavate 450mm down and reinstate with stone and Tarmac. This equates to 266m2 of road. We have no option other than to undertake these works to achieve sign off on project completion. This means we have had to extend the approved road closure until week commencing 19th June 2023. To ensure works do not fall behind we have employed extra resources and will possibly be working on Saturdays. The access to the village hall will remain as it is currently.

WW Martin can only apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but we have no other option than to proceed as directed by KCC highways. We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding and we do assure you we will get things back to normal as soon as possible.

Kind regards
